Isaiah 57:15 describes God’s living arrangement as Duality Review “For this is what the high and lofty One says- he who lives forever, whose name is holy: ‘I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.'”
So there are some requirements for me to dwell with God. I need to have a contrite and lowly spirit. It Appears the requirement for listening to God is to find a spot and read or listen to the Bible. The requirement for walking with God appears to be going in the same direction at the same speed that He is going. If He turns right and I turn left or keep going straight, then I’m no longer walking with God. If He stops and I keep walking or visa versa, then I’m no longer walking with God. But to dwell with God takes a real attitude adjustment. No proud people need apply.
How do I develop a contrite and lowly spirit? Jesus offers me the solution in John 14:23. It says, “Jesus replied, ‘If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.'” Love for God leads to obedience. Obedience leads to the Father loving me. Which leads to God the Father and God the Son coming to making their home with me.
It’s tough to be anything but contrite and lowly in heart when I am being truly obedient. True obedience requires me to set aside my own desires and wants and seek to fulfill God’s desires and wants for my life.
